A lot of the schools that filter websites use lists that are provided by the same two or three vendors. Letsrun.com probably made it onto one of those lists, and as admins update their black-listed sites, it's being added to more and more school filters.
I'm not at any school, it's not working from my apartment. I don't go to school any more. But I can access letsrun from work.
This shows how pathetically addicted letsrun viewers are. My issue: I can always get to the site using Firefox, but rarely with Safari.
I got a rare 408/409 error message the other day: "Due to current high demand, the page you are looking for cannot be delievered right now." I've also noticed that I've gotten the dreaded blank page more often lately when trying to load the forum. Seems that letsrun is getting more popular; great, but the current server may not be up to the task.
The problem is more than just number of people trying to access the site. If you'll notice, just about anyone can get on any time if they go through a proxy server, and some locations just can't get on ever.
I know that I'm having the same issue, but I cannot solve the thing. Frankly I don't even know where to start.

It was blocked by the AD personally but then when we kicked the butt of #3 and #5 to finish 4th at regionals, he called me at home at 3 am to congratulate me personally and told me that it was unblocked until our first indoor meet this weekend. If we don't have 7 guys under 8:15 in the 3k, then it will be blocked again.
thats totally assasine. how can he say you must have X number of ppl under X:xx.xx to be allowed on the web page?
perhaps he wants to motivate yall? cuz we all kno access to letsrun.com is the biggest motivator of all.
Just because you can't use a trace route to find it doesn't mean it is blocked. A lot of routers disallow the tracert command, which is why the trace died after reaching the campus router. Try typing the IP address for the letsrun site into your browser, and hitting enter. It is 67.19.65.196.
Yep, I couldn't get it at home, but I'm getting it now at my university.
i had trouble getting on for a while, i would get an "operation timed out" message.
i am not at a school or business either.
now things are back to normal.

The Cornell AD must still be smarting a bit from missing Nationals.... again...... because I don't get it on Campus. Maybe when you finally get the XC team to finish in the top half at HEPS they will let it go. Did anyone on the team make Nationals this year??
whoa ... this is weird ... yesterday I thought the fact I couldn't get letsrun finally proved it was a communist site, but now this is the ONLY site I can get. I'm not kidding. I can't get yahoo, cnn, anything, but I can get this, and not just a cached version. This can only mean the communists are winning.
It has been blocked since Monday on the State of Arizona computers as well.
Can anyone tell me how to try the proxy server solution?
I use Internet Explorer and know that it can be accessed under Tools>Internet options>Connections.
I can get on from home through the ISP dial-up but not through the choiceone dsl line at work...
The site now works from my house for the 1st time in about a week....weird.

obviously a company which has block lists of sites that various organizations uses had added Letsrun.com to their lits. Wejo needs to figure out what company added him and why they did it.

Nobody is putting Letsrun on a blocked list. I couldn't get on from my home connection for a couple of days. I figure it was probably some sort of DOS (Denial of Service) or SMURF attack. I doubt Letsrun has enough security measures in place to prevent anything but the most trivial attacks.
how do you figure it is a DoS attack...would that attack the server the brojo's are using, not ISPs that are not allowing the traffic?
