Red Bull pre-run and caffeinated gel during a run over 10 miles. Buying in bulk, they come out to less than $2 each. A case of 24 Lasts me a couple months.
I should try sour patch kids, since it’s really just the sugar, salt and caffeine you need, along with hydration of course. I also eat a decent breakfast before weekend runs.
I only use Gels during a race. Otherwise, I’ve made my own snickers bars or bought something cheap to fuel with.
