Emma Coburn OUT of Pre Classic

When is Courtney racing. Friday or Saturday? It better ve Friday not if she wants a chance at sub 9.

I imagine the Olympics mentally devasted her.

That Olympic final is likely the last race she will ever run.

Obviously something is going on. Maybe she’s hurt. Maybe she’s pregnant. Maybe she’s got other stuff going on. It is not normal someone of her caliber drops off the face of the Earth for no reason. Only time will give us the answers.

That being said, I belive Courtney Frerichs is better than Emma couburn at this moment, and I am extremely excited to watch her race on Saturday. I think she will go sub 9.

When did Jenny ever duck Pre? It's like Mike Tyson said, "everybody's got a plan until you get punched in the mouth." Emma is grasping for answers and Coach Joey and the rest of Team Bossy are fresh out.

I'm actually pretty surprised. I suspect there is more to the story about what happened to her in Tokyo than we know. I hope she comes back strong in 2022.

Both Coburn and Frerich are excelent steeplers with good race still comong there way. But both of them are passed their prime to run under 9:00 mins. If they could do it they would have done it by now.

I hope one bad race doesn’t end her career.

I remember Sarah Baxter getting 3rd at NXN for her first loss. She was never the same again.

I hope this doesn’t happen to Emma. She has to get that attitude she displayed after she fell in the race before the Olympics, on to the next race.

I wish her the best. She been so good for American women’s running.

My take on it too. Kara Goucher's comment was that she was doing the right thing. She may be done for the year, needs to skip Europe.

It would have been really bad for her to DNF or struggle.

Very troubling to see her crash as well as watching Sandi Morris breaking her pole.

After her unforgivable mean girl nastiness towards Beatrice Chepkoech that laid bare what kind of person she really is, I feel no sympathy for her athletic struggles. She's getting everything she deserves (minus the mum on chemo of course, for which I wish her well). She's one of two runners universally loved on these boards that I can't stand.

Yes. Completely agree. And despite Coburn's unfounded suggestion that Beatrice is a doper, Beatrice continues to treat her very graciously whenever they race. Pretty striking difference in character.

Courtney has the American record. Courtney beat her at the Olympics. What we have here is a rivalry. I predict both runners will duck and hide until forced to race each other at WC '22.
