Why does the media care so much about Allyson Felix?

It’s the “in” thing these days.

Black folks are on every commercial, in every movie, the star if every tv show, praised for everything, certainly never criticized.

And of course all the black on Asian attacks, black on white attacks, black on police officer attacks, are simply “crime”

Sports TV pays attention to a five time Olympian and you’re raging because that Olympian happens to be black. Find another hobby.

It has become a bit much with every few minutes a mention that she is coming up. And enough with showing her daughter we get it sh had a kid. The kid has gotten more tv time than most of the athletes who make the team.

Sadly this entire thing (and more as they will dedicate a large chunk of time from Tokyo looking back at her career) will play put again in Japan.

Guarantee there will be a clock with a countdown on the screen till when she runs each night

Even career criminals who violently attack pregnant women have busts made of their face all over the country.

It's because NBC is producing the trials like it's American Ninja Warrior. Everyone needs a puff piece and a storyline.

Part of it is because the coverage is not specifically catering to people who follow track and field. The last olympics was 5 years ago... there are a bunch of new eyes tuning in all the time. To you, it's old news that is repetitive, but others are going "wow hey cool."

It's kind of like when when your local sports team gets a national game... the announcers keep harping on minor stuff that you already know because many of the viewers don't know.

Right. I enjoy watching major track events.

That has nothing to do with commercials, movies, etc.

Let Asians , whites, Hispanics, and others have some air time.

If white people were arrested, prosecuted and jailed the same way, for the same crimes that black people and other people of color are, you would fine that idiotic statistic much different. A white guy a few months ago killed 6 Asians in Florida and the sheriff had the balls to say he was having a bad day. A black man taking his child to school and the police shoots him dead.
