I have always thought it was roughly 1s/1000m until you get to the half marathon distance. People are definitely improving, but in combination with better shoes the drops in times look way more ridiculous. The shoes definitely help much more in longer road races and I think they could take 1-2 minutes off of a world class time. But not everyone responds the same. Runners who are already super efficient, light, and interact with the ground in a superior manner see less of an advantage because the don't benefit as much from the "leg freshness" that these shoes provide.
