If she’s trying to fine tune her performance why shouldn’t she time trial against or with guys. It would better simulate her competition in a high end meet like with Sudan Hassan or Laura Muir. What does racing Elise Cranny, a 10k runner over 1500m tell her that she couldn’t learn in practice.

Not even June yet, but Schumacher has raced Johnson 7 times this year, the same number as Elle Purrier. GDS has raced 5 times, same as Kate Grace. Josh Thompson and Marc Scott have raced more than Jake Wightman and Josh Kerr.
Again, the only people we are missing now are the ones who have either said themselves or through their agents that they've had long standing injuries to work through. I hope they pull through so we get real showdowns in their events.
track is not a spectator sport and apparently does not aspire to be a spectator sport. the athletes are paid to wear and sponsor shoes which can then to be sold to hobby joggers and high school athletes. They are not paid to perform for fans.
So i guess what she is doing is okay and probably the prudent thing to do.
If she ran 3:57 then it wouldn’t have been crowded for her. She would’ve been at the front free and clear.

Just what I heard, but if true I don't think it's that crazy. Ball is big time. Works with MLB, NFL athletes as well as lots of track people. He's about as highly rated a specialist for athletics as they come. People literally buy apartments in Chandler AZ so they can spend their off seasons working with him. I don't think it is a crazy stretch for an athlete to hear one of the best physios in the country has an open slot the same time you have a twilight race for you to take the slot. Houlihan's closest competitor would have been Cranny.
RE: Ahmed, to be honest I don't know why he was ever considering racing that meet. Dude is fast but can't race 1500m. He's a world medalist hoping to chase down Cheptegei and co in Tokyo, so why would he mess around entering his 3rd 1500m in a month?
Not the craziest explanation, but we've all thought of more plausible ones. Just surprising that they wouldn't want to quell the rumors with a public comment if there is a simple innocent explanation.

When you get treatment your legs are often trashed afterwards (obviously depending on the treatment). Also… you’d have to be in a totally different state. Would love to get a public comment if this is the reason, I agree with the other poster. Maybe don’t want to let on that she’s having some injury woes that are up and down enough that it warrants dropping everything to get a last min appointment
