Is multiculturalism essentially a failure?

this is a profoundly ignorant question.

jesus never ate potato. no french fries. no potato salad. he never ate corn on the cob. he never ate hot peppers and he naver ate tomato sauce. no pizza. ... st patrick never ate a turkey sandwich, no pumpkin pie, no sunflower seeds.

we wouldnt even have the numbers we count with or the letters that represent the sounds we speak, or the sounds we speak with, with without multicultural sources.

do you ever listen to any music whatsoever?

do you plug anything whatsoever into an electrical outlet?

People are naturally drawn to feeding at their mother's breast as well, but at some point many of us grow up.

I don't buy the argument that multiculturalism is a failure because you like to hang out with people similar in sensibilities. That's not a sound logical inference.

I don't know what ethnic enclave you have settled in, but from my view I see communities and businesses blending cultures together very well.

Speak for yourself. My people stick to the same polish enclave that existed when they came over like 150 years ago. What good can come from mixing with the dirty English, Germans, Italians, and so on? A lot better to stay culturally pure right to than deal with those uncivilized barbarians....

It will be a rousing success when everyone has a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home, 2 or more cars, can shop at Whole Foods, wear LL Bean clothes, and pay for the limo for their kids prom.

Why do you act like multiculturalism is a recent phenomenon? People have been mixing DNA for many, many years. I have cousins who are black, cousins who are Hispanic and cousins who are white. We all get along just fine. Even simplifying people into those select categories is somewhat disrespectful. I have multiple European ancestors that used to war with each other (the Irish in me wars with the British in me, wars with the German in me, wars with the Czech and Belgian in me, etc.). You pull DNA on most any person in these so-called "homogenous" societies in Europe, you will likely find DNA from Romans, Greeks, Moors, Turks, Vikings, etc. interwoven throughout. The concept of pure blood is a joke.

What does that even mean, "exploiting"? Seems like a choice of words to add heat to the topic while shedding no light.

I live in Houston. Whites are a minority. Half of households speak another language at home. The city has the largest Vietnamese population outside of California. There are large communities of South Asians, Africans, and even a big French ex-pat community. It is not Shangri La, but people really do get along in Houston and the city has only become more successful as it has become more diverse.

I have lived in cities that are 60-70% white. Other than people working low wage jobs, you could go for weeks without seeing any people of color. White people stayed on one side of town and people of color generally stayed in their communities.

In Houston, there are definitely parts of town where certain ethnic groups live. But people do mix together at work and play a lot more than I have seen in cities where whites are the supermajority. And that helps everyone get along and be successful.

If seperate then not equal

If not equal then different values.

There will always be a battle.

It's a failure and has always been so...

Diversity equals divisiveness...

Simply look around the World, like minded people flock together in countries that share ethnicity, culture etc.

About the only place you find "pure" DNA is east Asia and parts of sub-saharan Africa. Everywhere else is a multicultural blend. Your premise is laced with racial undertones.

The US has had 50 years of race riots and they can break out at any time as we all know, race relations are at a 50-60 year low and getting worse.

Blacks claim systemic racism while committing enormous amounts of crime...

I would say multi culturalism has failed.

Seen this nonsense before. America was a success due to slightly different cultures working together in a "multicultural" environment.

As the incoming cultures became too different in culture, productivity, innovation, and value systems, the worse America started to become. The present"multiculture" of America is unsustainable for progress. This is why America has been suffering in every way. In 20 yrs America will be outside the top 3 in GDP and be horrible place to live for 99% of the population. Could also be splintered into several countries.

can you name one mma cage fighter, who has had any success, without a multicultural approach to training and fighting?

of course our media exaggerates what things are really like. We need to let things happen organically, of course, within the bounds of decency.

My German Reformed ancestors were racially very similar to my English Quaker ancestors but they each had distinctly different cultures that have now been blended to constitute part of a greater American culture.

I don't think so.

America is arguably the best country in the world at assimilating new cultures. It's probably our greatest competitive advantage.

Ever been to Tokyo? Incredibly city. Culturally, ethnically homogenous.
