100+
For younger runners maybe more like 60 or 70 but once you're in college 80 mpw is not high mileage, it's the standard.

Anything over 60 is 'high mileage' for me.
Hadn't thought about it but I think same, over 60 miles is categorized as 'high mileage' in my head.
No offense but how are you people on this website if you think 60 is 'high mileage'?

Curious to see people's thoughts on this age-old debate. For the purposes of this excercise, I will define "high mileage" as the threshold where I'd respect someone for putting in this amount, regardless of speed, and I'd consider it a significant part of their lives.
Middle School: 20+mpw
High School: 65+mpw
College: 80+mpw
Masters (between 25-40): 70+mpw
Masters (50 and older): 45+ mpw
Thoughts? Opinions? Discus:
Middle School - Don't care
High School - 70+ MPW
College - 110+ MPW (100 is average for what most distance runners should be doing; not middle distance runners, distance runners)
Masters - 90+ MPW
Masters 50 and older - 70+

How would you define distance and middle distance runners? Seems like most 5,000m and 10,000m at the national and world class level are around 85-100 give or take.
Anything over 80mpw
At my age, I consider it high mileage to surpass 30 MPW
High school: 80 is on the border, more like 85-90+
College: 110+
Ask Dave Bedford
800/1500: 70+ mpw
5k/10: starts at 110
Half/marathon: 130-150 are high mileage.
This is all in what I see as the higher range for these events, but not for one week like doing these for a few months and then it’s high mileage. One week does not make fitness.
We're talking about sprinters right?
Over 125MPW
Lots of folk go to 100 because that's a nice round number but 125 shows significant effort. I remember them saying Kipchoge starts his base mileage at 200kmph (124).
I think 50+ is high for high school because the seasons are pretty condensed. For CC, this week might come in late August and have 2 quality days within it...which reduces total mileage.
I’m 40 now and hitting 50mpw and feel pretty good about that.
