Depends on the runner. When I come back after a break I usually run in the 8:00 range. After a few weeks I’m around 7:00 and once I have some workouts in me I run the majority of my runs in the 6:30-7:00 range. So for me, I make the jump from 8:30-7:00 in a few short weeks. But I’m a 4:17/8:29 guy and I’ve been in that range before. For someone new to running, it might take a few years, or a few months, depending on talent level. Many runners will never be able to run 7:00 easy runs.
