When Wariner was in high school, he did have one of the top 200 times (20.41w). And he is going to run some 200's next year.
You're comparing a 43 second guy with a 49 second guy. It's really no contest. For a 10000 meter guy, Bekele's finishing speed is great. But if he was a white kid named Mike Smith....he'd be just another white kid who had to be a distance runner because wasn't fast enough to do the sprints.

Responding to the first poster. I'll go with Bekele speed. He most likely hast faster than 49.x & can hold a sick pace all day long. Short bursts are nice, but it's the pace in the long run that counts when you're running from Cops or chasing the bad guy.

When Wariner was in HS, he didn't lead the 400m list. He was ranked 2nd in both the 2 and the 4.
And he's a good deal quicker now.

The Baylor coach has stated that Wariner came into college with better 200 meter ability than he saw with Michael Johnson.
if you think that jermemy wariner is gonna get close to 19.32 your absolute idiots, jeremy wariner is extremely good, but MJ is just special.
I think Bekele would rather have Wariner's speed.
