Look, Bolt was fine with it. The commercial is two people having fun with and about each other. Not only that two of the best athletics has to offer and appealing to those who may not be fans of athletics but may now take a look.

I understand, that's why I asked you to delete it. will you do it? I reported my own thread 15 times, cmon...
what made me truly give up was the guy pretending to be a woman that thinks you shouldn't expect women to get pregnant (>80% do get pregnant). dude's a genius, completely outclassed me
I think it's a well written and directed funny commercial. Period.
me too. over
I wish companies would stop paying them and pay the current athletes. There isn't even a ton of money in the sport, I wish they'd take last year's 2019 world champions and start paying them instead of paying the people that aren't at the top anymore. Felix only passed Bolt's medal count because of the stupid mixed relay that no one does. If there was a mixed 4x100 Bolt would have even more medals.
I thought both of them were funny (I laughed more over the "over the clinking of my medals").
But the way they presented them in the commercials is interesting to me:
- both of them needed to wear the name bibs, since the average viewer isn't going to recognize them on sight (although Allyson's bib is covered by her medals)
- Allyson needs to wear the medals to show she's an accomplished athlete, while Bolt doesn't need to show off his since his name is more well known to the average viewer (although, it's a bit misleading since Bolt has won his share of medals too, but the title "fastest man of all time" trumps his medal count)
This came out months ago. They take away your tv and internet during quarantine?
These are fun. Great for them.
Alas, it is sort of sad they have to wear bibs with their names on them. Pretty much says "No one knows who you are".
if they weren't known they wouldn't be getting hired for it
They are done, it's someone else's turn wrote:

Companies are in the business of moving their products, not being charities. They determined that Felix and Bolt will do that better than other athletes. Maybe they did screen tests with others or checked them out and did not find them appealing.
Better to have track athletes than getting some other athletes.
Felix is the most decorated athlete in World Athletics Championship history with 13 golds. (emphasized by all the medals hanging around her neck in the ad).
You are correct that Bolt has more individual golds, but Felix has more golds overall due to relay golds.
The commercial starts with Bolt apparently bragging, But Felix is able to counter. She points out that she won gold medals (surpassing Bolt's total) after giving birth. something that apparently gets Bolt's attention in the ad and makes him squirm a bit.
I did not come away from the ad believing that it portrayed Felix as better or equivalent to Bolt. I got the impression from the ad that Felix did some things that are pretty, good, similar to Bolt (and she tells him this in the ad).
I do not know how you define "track purist" but I have been following athletics seriously for over 50 years and was not "bothered" at all by the ad. Believe what you wish about the relays, but they are official events on the program and they hand out gold medals to the members of the winning team.
I do not believe the ad portrays one athlete as better than the other. They both have done amazing things in their respective events.. They compete in different races, are not the same gender so it is pointless to try to compare the two.
Overall I believe its a great ad. Not sure if the average person will actually know that Felix has more global gold medals than Bolt, but they will know that she has won a bunch of gold medals including ones after giving birth. Maybe the average person will look up Felix and Bolt online and become more interested in athletics
Good for Felix and Bolt for agreeing to be in this ad and getting the exposure.(and presumably some $). Good for Sam's Club for recognizing that these two great athletes have each done amazing things, coming up with a clever ad, and believing that this ad will help their business.

it's cool, thanks for apologizing. I guess what annoys me about it is the message of her activism being kind of "women are GONNA have babies! that's what women DO!" As a woman who is very much against the idea of that expectation being normalized, it irks a bit.
Why do you not want the expectation of motherhood to be normalized? Given that motherhood is necessary for the very propagation of our species, that seems an absolutely bizarre thing to be against. And it seems to be an especially weird thing to criticize Allyson for...
and good for you, what a great essay
You all over analyzing this are tools.
And Bolt is probably the better actor but I would need a greater body of work from both to make a final judgment on that.
Geez. I thought it was kind of amusing. Guess I missed the bigger point?

I am a woman. And I see you're another person who thinks pregnancy is a give in for women. You SHOULDN'T 'expect' women to get pregnant. That's quite a disgusting expectation to have.
Fact is, Usain Bolt was the most refreshing and upbeat athletes to come around in years. Everything about how this ad was handled plays to that. The two are charming and worthy on of our admiration on many levels. With those two, it would be hard to not produce a winner. And it is just that.
Sorry, but with only one individual Gold Olympic Medal and zero American or World Individual Records, Allyson never reached her full potential. Her World Championships individual medal count is worthy of praise, but it is insult to Usain to put them side to side. She was never dominant. Relay medal counts should not count when crowing someone the "Undisputed Queen of Track" It is very disputable.
I think the pregnancy thing is weird. It's a weird thing to boast about. But I guess they're going for mom's who probably have the most buying power out of any group of their customers so i guess that makes sense.
Like if we're boasting about handicapping, Bolt could be like, well I partied like crazy and crashed my car, and still smoked everyone that ever lived!
And then Allison could be like, well I stubbed my toe and had a panic attack before the race!
And Bolt could be like, I did dance moves with asafa for an hour in the warmup area!
And so on.
Well I had to retrace jenebah tarmoh and destroy her Olympic dream even though I have millions of dollars because I'm insecure!
Jk
But actually
