Ritz beat Hall at the Olympics and he didn't even have a fancy 2:06 PR in the marathon.

and hall DESTROYED ritz at their last mtg over xc....so who cares?

Hall demolished Ritz at the Oly Trials (in 2:09), and has a 2:06:17 and a 2:08:24, all 3 performances faster than Ritz has ever run. Also- Hall admitted he did too much and tried to force his training for the olympics. He had an off race and Ritz was somewhat happier with his. Thus, as far as I can see, this is how it stands

Ritz > Hall at oly games by ~30 seconds (Ritz +1)

Hall > Ritz at Oly Trials by close to 2.5 minutes hardly trying (Hall +2)

Hall > Ritz 2:06+2:08+2:09 to 2:11 (Hall +2 again)

In my book that gives Hall 4 to Ritz 1. Clearly Hall > Ritz for me.

Where is Ritz? Why isn't he running Boston?

He is probably doing London so that he can run on a fast course with fast runners and stop having to hear about how Hall's PR is like 5 minutes faster than his own.

Ritz finished 34 seconds in front of Ryan, Just over 1 second per mile. Plus they were 10th and 11th, It's not like they were anywhere near medal contention at anytime during the race.

Hall is without a doubt a much more succesful runner on the international scene than ritz.

Ritz is a good American but he is not competetive on the world stage.

Ritz stopped in the Olympic marathon because he was having cramps. He had to stretch out his legs for a minute. He was not happy about the Olympics because without the cramps he would have been 7th or better. Head to head Hall has beaten Ritz only two times. One of those times Ritz was very sick and had walking Pneumonia. I'd say they are on level ground in terms of success in their careers. Ritz has the hardware, and Hall has the times.

I have been fans of them since 2001 and that was the year I began my switch from soccer to running. I hope to see many more races of these two for years to come. I want to see more races like that 03` NCAA xc race where it came down to a long 400 meter kick by both of them with Ritz barely coming out on top. God I love these two!! However, I'm more of a fan of Ritz.. GO RITZ!!!

I LOVE statements like that: "without the cramps he would have been 7th or better." Why don't you say, Without all the guys in front of him, he would have won? Or, if he hadn't run that slow, he would have run faster? F^cktard.
