Acosta 9:35 Steeple

Is there anything he can't do? Beat Greg Kelsey in a steeplechase, for starters....

Actually for a 4:03, 8:4x guy, a 9:35 SC is subpar.

That wasn't much of a meet. Slow times, and it was likely hot. I think Danielle Tauro ran a 1500 in which only two girls finished, and she won in 4:37....which is close to her mile PR

9:35 is slow

No offense, but 9:35 is garbage(even for your first steeple) when you have run 4:04 and 8:46.

Is he still running Worlds?

9:35 sucks, even for a first steeple. It is horrible for a runner of that caliber. I never made top 7 on my D1 team but I never ran a steeple that slow.

Alrighty then what di you guys run your first steeplechase in and what were your mile and 2 mile times when you did it?

Even I can run a 9:35 steeple, but I can't come anywhere close to 4:04 or 8:46.

you should be able to steeple what you run a 2mile race in. Give or take 10-15 seconds. That was clearly not the case.

mile/1500: 4:15 indoor, 3:57 outdoor

3k: 8:11 from indoor or about 8:48 2 mile

both probably would have been faster when I ran my steeple, but my first steeple was 9:04 high if i remember right. It was at the Iowa musco meet if you want to look it up.

I am older than AJ, but he is still far faster at the mile than me, and should really be able to break 9:00 for steeple even with poor form.

I highly doubt you can shit a 9:35 steeple. That's just f***ed up. What difference does it make if it' the summre or not? I shit better in the winter.

When Acosta can run 9:02 in the steeple, like Noel Bateman, then i will be impressed. NEW YORK POWER!!

Actually, I ran my first steeple as a frosh in college and hit 9:17 off of not much hurdle/barrier work. My pr's for that year were 30:5x for 10k, 14:4x for 5k, and 8:3x 3k. I would say that, given what he has run, 9:35 is not very good. However, i doubt he was taking it very seriously at all.

Maybe he thought the water jump was the kiddie pool.

All you have to do is look at what Marie Lawrence ran her 3k steeple in, what 10:15ish, so 40 seconds, now you have to ask yourself is Marie Lawrence within 40 seconds of AJ Acosta in the 1600? Yeah not a good time, it's a good start, but that man should be able to run sub 9.
