The 1% Announced for the 2011 LetsRun.com Puma Marathon Party in NYC

By LetsRun.com
November 3, 2011

As Occupy Wall Street has taught us, there is the 99% and there is the 1%.

Scences From Our 2008 Boston Party

Being in the 1% has its privileges, you get to come to the LetsRun.com Puma bash on Friday night in New York City with free booze, food, and LetsRun.com t-shirts.

Plus you get to try out the new PUMA Faas line designed for the hard-core LetsRun.com runner and see if you are ready for the LetsRun.com PUMA Challenge.

Who are the 1%ers selected for the LetsRun.com Puma party?

Below we present to you a few snippets from some of the winning entries from the LRCers who wanted to come to the VIP party. We've tried to strip out any identifying info to protect the 1%. But after the party we will expose the 1% with photos and a recap on LetsRun.com.

For those of you not selected to come to the LetsRun.com Puma Party, don't worry Zuccotti Park is 2.2 miles straight down Broadway from the Puma store. Just kidding. We really would like to make everyone happy but we only have a limited amount of space. After accepting a former world record holder and several American record holders, there wasn't a lot of room left for the 99%. We hope to have a few LetsRun.com tshirts left over after the party which we may be giving away over the weekend.

Snippets from a few of the winning selections for the LetsRun.com Puma Party:

We Love Brits

Traveling all the way over from London and I will be very thirsty by then!

Desperation Pays Off

I've been waiting for a LetsRun.com shirt for ~10 years. My life will be complete if I can have one.

You Make the Homepage of LRC, You Deserve to Come

I believe that Letsrun.com should pick me and my roommates from XXXX (a college) for the puma party because we have done our best in the past to support professional runners. Our story was featured on the front page of letsrun in october of last year and we would be more than willing to make the trip back up to new york if we could go to the Puma Party!

It Sounds Worse Than It Is, But We'll Have a Camera

(Pro runner from US) because i will show up at your party wearing nothing.....but XXXX and a XXXX, carrying my XXXX.....

We Love Poor Grammar...

My Grammar is not very good but my love for running is unmatched. I come to letsrun about 30 times per day....seriously. My lifetime goal is to become the best coach I can possibly be....
(this guy went on for a paragraph and ended with "I have a goal of making a HUGE Impact on the running world so please help my DREAM BECOME A REALITY! PLEASE.")

Note: We will have counselors on hand to help him with his LRC addiction.

We Love Gangsters:

I'm a social media gangster and my photos, tweets and blog posts about the party in real-time will be read, re-circulated and help to spread the word for Puma, the FAAS promotion and Letsrun.com. I also love this site, the running community and the sport/style brand Puma has preserved for years.

We Love Kenyans

Sitting in the Hilton with XX (NYC Marathon Pro), XX (NYC Marathon Pro), and XX (NYC Marathon Pro), having a late lunch, waiting for XX (another NYC Marathon Pro) and manager to arrive I can't think about a good reason to explain why I am the one who should be taken to meet all the Puma people...

Note: If he dropped one more name, that would have been it for us.

Don't Worry We'll Post Photos

I'm the man. (my roommate says so anyhow, and told me to say so here). I recently turned 21; I love running and am interested in PUMA (Have I won those FAAS yet?) and I'm enthusiastic about Letsrun and PUMA getting it on together. Also, my girlfriend who I would bring up to NYC is hot.

We Love Sprinters

First of all my name is XX born in XX (foreign country) grew up in XX (different foreign country) and recently moved to the States. I am a big fan of track and field and been running competitively now for 6 years, there is one person who is a role model for me in this game is Usain bolt, who is also a sports man for puma ...

We Like Slow Runners

I have been a fan of your website for the past 2 years and have learned much about distance running through your message boards helping me to break 3:00 in the marathon for the first time last year. You have a very unique community of runners and attending your party would give me to opportunity to meet many of them.

Note: Our headline is a joke. 80 year old Ed Whitlock (3:15 marathon) could beat both Wejo and Rojo in a marathon right now.

We Love Occupy Wall Street Jokes

Here are some topics that Occupy Wall Street should address: harsher penalties for positive drug tests and 2:15:25 should be the official world record. On a more serious note, I am working on a research project about the resurgence of boy’s high school distance running and would appreciate the chance to discuss the subject with some great minds. On a less serious note, I had visions of this event being compared to the 2001 party scene in Eugene. Truthfully, the main reason I want to attend is because I really want a letsun.com t-shirt. The free beer is just extra.

Note: Nice reference to the 2001 party scene in Eugene.

Proof Women a Woman Comes to LetsRun.com

The first Sunday in November is my favorite day of the year. I never miss the NYC Marathon. I sprint around Manhattan to all of my favorite viewing spots, darting through traffic and hurdling police barriers (I've gotten in trouble on more than a few occasions due to my spectating enthusiasm). I was raised in this city, and you should definitely have a native new yorker at your party. Also, I hear you probably need some ladies there?

We Love Beer Mile Experts

Best possible place to pick up beermile tips?

Note: Wait a minute, we loved this guy's application but realized that by the time we got to it, we were already full. Seriously, we wish we had more room.
