UTEP's Anthony Rotich and Jonah Koech will challenge Cheserek, but is there any way they can beat him? In the women's race, studs Aisling Cuffe (Stanford), Erin Finn (Michigan) and Bethan Knights (Cal) will all aim for victory after winning major invitationals earlier this season.

Georgetown has a lot of depth returning whereas young Stanford (5 freshmen last year) has some serious firepower up front led by Elise Cranny.

With no pro USA vs. The World distance events this year, the focus will be on the collegians - namely Oregon and Cheserek and Stanford and Cranny.

With Cheserek on the anchor, can anyone stop the Ducks from winning their first DMR title since 2010? The women's race should be great with Arkansas and likely anchor Dominique Scott battling Georgetown (Katrina Coogan on anchor) and Michigan State (Leah O'Connor).

The Spartans are favored to win their first-ever NCAA title. Could they possibly do it in grand style, with the lowest point total in 10 years?

The two biggest races of NCAA cross-country's regular season - the adidas Wisconsin Invitational and the Pre-National Invitational - are in the books and they produced a ton of data for us to analyze. We make sense of it all and give you eight takeaways from the weekend's action.

Saturday's Pre-National Invitational pits the #1 Colorado men against #2 Oregon while the women's race features #1 Michigan, #3 Oregon and #4 Georgetown. Individually, Edward Cheserek is the favorite on the men's side; Rachel Johnson and Erin Finn lead the women.

Notre Dame has an extremely deep men's field (10 of the top 25, led by #10 BYU), but the best race of the weekend is Saturday in Seattle, where half of the men's top 10 (#2 NAU, #5 Portland, #6 Stanford, #7 Indiana, #9 Villanova) will square off. The women's races aren't as strong, but #3 Oregon vs. #4 Stanford at Washington should be compelling, with a potential debut from Stanford's Aisling Cuffe. In other action, the #6 FSU women trek up to Paul Short to face #5 Georgetown while the #1 Colorado men race at the Rocky Mountain Shootout.

Arkansas has had two straight disappointing NCAAs but one rival coach thinks they are the team to beat. At a minimum, they're loaded in 2014 and should be a real threat to reach the podium. The same can be said for Georgetown, who was 5th in 2013 and returns six of its top seven.
