It was an amazing year in the 1500 - so amazing that Seb Coe's 1979 WR of 3:32.03 would have put him as the 17th fastest man in 2014. No one was faster than Silas Kiplagat but in our minds no one was better than Ayanleh Souleiman. Thanks to HOKA One One and John Hayes, a resurgent Leo Manzano claims US #1.

Full Results From 2014 Madrid IAAF World Challenge Meet: Scotland's Lysnsey Sharp Wins 800 In 1:59.72 To Beat Americans Charlene Lipsey, LaTavia Thomas And Molly Beckwith

Jenny Simpson was way back in 9th in 2:05.08, but still beat Caster Semenya in 11th (2:06.84). Other US distance action included Gabe Grunewald 3rd in the 3000 (8:52) and some less than stellar men's 1500s as Lopez Lomong was 11th in 3:43 as Kenyan Collins Cheboi won in 3:36.
