This Week’s Track and Field Viewing Guide (7/18-7/23): Monaco and London Diamond Leagues

Did you enjoy last week’s track action with Sha’Carri Richardson taking down Shericka Jackson and Jakob Ingebrigtsen running 3:27.14?

This week’s European action might be even better as we have two Diamond League meets, one on Friday in Monaco and one on Sunday in London, plus we had Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce make her 100m debut (results below).

Below we detail the biggest meets of the week in the order they will take place with viewing info and links to results.

We will update this info throughout the week. Once an event has taken place we will move it to the completed event section at the bottom.

Friday, July 21: Meeting Herculis EBS – Monaco Diamond League – It’s MONACO, arguably the best non-final Diamond League every year

This is an absolutely stacked Diamond League all-around. The enticing events include Warholm v Dos Santos in the 400mH, Kipyegon going for the mile world record, and a very fast men’s 5,000m. We preview it all for you here.

Saturday, July 22: Under Armour Sunset Tour – Centro, Engels, Hunter in 1500

Women’s 800m (10:25 PM ET): Raevyn Rogers headlines a solid field including Charlene Lipsey, Sinta Vissa, and Harvard commit Sophia Gorriaran.

Men’s 800m (10:35 PM ET): Isaiah Harris leads the 800m men along with his Brooks Beasts teammate Devin Dixon. UAC athletes Amos Bartelsmeyer and Charlie Hunter are in the field as well.

Men’s Steeple (10:45 PM ET): Friend of LRC Dan Michalski is a highlight of the field along with 2022 NCAA champion Ahmed Jaziri.

Men’s 1500m (11:25 PM ET): Many of the top Americans who did not qualify for Budapest are in this race including Matthew Centrowitz, Johnny Gregorek, Henry Wynne, Craig Engels, Drew Hunter, and Eric Holt.

Women’s 1500m (11:35 PM ET): Karissa Schweizer is making her season 1500m debut against many other top American 1500m athletes.

Men’s 5,000m (12:10 PM ET): An interesting conglomerate of athletes line up in this one including 2023 NCAA 5k champion Ky Robinson, 2023 European U23 10k champion Charles Hicks, Sam Parsons, Bowerman TC athlete Kieran Tuntivate, and making his 2023 debut Morgan McDonald.

Women’s 5,000m (12:25 PM ET): Karissa Schweizer is also entered in the 5k and will likely make a decision about which race to run. Julie Anne Staehli, Aisha Praught-Leer, and Vanessa Fraser are other notable runners in this race.

Sunday, July 23: London Diamond League – Knighton vs Lyles vs Kerley vs Hughes at 200?!

The full fields are yet to be announced for the London Diamond League, but a huge showdown is set in the men’s 200m between Erriyon Knighton, Noah Lyles, and Zharnel Hughes.

Sha’Carri Richardson suffered her first loss of the year, Clayton Murphy was third in the 800, and Steven Gardiner ran a world leader in the 400.
