NCAA Champ Betsy Saina Joins American Distance Project’s International Elite

(Colorado Springs, CO) – Three-time NCAA champion, Betsy Saina, who recently signed with Nike, has joined the American Distance Project’s International Elite.  Saina, a Kenyan native, graduated from Iowa State University in May finishing a stellar collegiate career that included the 2012 NCAA indoor 5,000-meter title, followed by the 2013 NCAA cross country title and the 2013 NCAA outdoor 10,000-meter title.
Saina, who has personal bests of 15:12.05 for 5,000-meters and 31:15.97 for 10,000-meters, also earned bronze for Kenya in the 10,000-meters at the 2012 African Championships.
“The American Distance Project accepts a few outstanding international athletes to our International Elite roster,” said coach Scott Simmons. “The select few, like Leonard Korir (Nike/Kenya), Nouredine Smail (France) and Nathalie De Vos (Belgium) not only add quality to the training dynamic of the group, but also provide mentoring and add to the confidence of our American athletes.”
