A Fan's Guide To Day 3 Of The 2010 USA Track And Field Championships

To help you follow the 2010 USA Track and Field championships, we have created the following preview for you. We preview all of the distance events - 800 and up - and tell you when they'll take place. We also give you our predictions. Previous previews can be found here:

Day 1 preview - Men's and Women's 800, Women's 1,500, Men's and Women's 10ks.
Day 2 preview - Women's 1,500, Men's and Women's 5ks, Women's Steeplechase

As for day 3, all we can say is that it seems every single year there is a day at the US championships when we turn to ourselves and think, "Let's not bother to go to the stadium and watch it on tv." Saturday certainly is one of those days as on the senior side of things, there is only one mid-d or distance race.

Thankfully, that one race - the women's 1,500 final - is one of the more intriguing races of the championships.

Who will win? Sub-4 runners Anna Pierce or Christin Wurth or last year's champ and world championship bronze medallist Shannon Rowbury? While the LetsRun.com visitors view Pierce as the favorite, we say that Rowbury deserves the nod as she was the one that came up on top last year both at USAs and worlds. Of course, we say that only if Rowbury isn't tired from having run the 5,000 which she was scheduled to run on Friday night. Of course, Christin Wurth was entered in the 800 and she didn't run that so it doesn't mean that Rowbury will have actually doubled (check the results to see if she did).
