Closing Ceremonies Photo Gallery

A festival of lights and music at the closing ceremonies brought the very successful London Olympics to a close on Sunday.

This was my second Olympics ever and first as a journalist, so I don't have a ton of comparison but from my perspective the London Olympics were a resounding success. GREAT Britain lived up to its name at this Olympics.

I'll have more on my take of the Olympics this upcoming week, but first tonight a photo gallery of the closing ceremonies. Definitely entertaining being there in person. The one thing different being there in person is 100% of the emphasis is on the entertainment versus the athletes parading around. Wheareas on NBC a large percentage of the time they cut to athletes celebrating at the closing ceremonies, there was almost none of that on the big screens at the Olympic stadium.

I'm glad to report the longest ovation of the night at the closing ceremonies was for the London Olympic volunteers. There were tens of thousands of them and they did a fabulous job of making London 2012 a huge success, and clearly I wasn't the only one who appreciated them.

I head off tomorrow to Norway before heading to Stockholm for Friday's Diamond League meet, the first big post Olympic meet.
