Oklahoma State and Georgetown Ranked #1 in First 2011 LetsRun.com Cross Country Poll

By LetsRun.com
September 29, 2011

The first 2011 LetsRun.com NCAA Super Poll is out and the Oklahoma State men and Georgetown women are strong number ones.

On the men's side, Dave Smith's OSU, the two-time defending national champions, are #1 with Stanford ahead of Wisconsin in the #2 spot. In the #4 spot is Martin Smith's Oklahoma Sooners. Smith, the coach let go at the University of Oregon for not producing enough cross country success, has his team one spot ahead of his former employer, Oregon.

On the women's side Chris Miltenberg's Georgetown women are a strong #1 over two time defending national champ and conference rival Villanova. The LetsRun.com faithful are strong on tradition as national powerhouses Colorado, Stanford and Providence round out the top 5. Joe Franklin's New Mexico Lobos, #2 in the latest coaches' poll only come in #7 in the LetsRun.com fan poll (New Mexico finished 5th last year at NCAAs).

In the conference polls, traditional powerhouse Colorado joining the already distance strong Pac 10 makes it a really interesting conference. On the women's side in the Pac 10, California went from being unranked nationally to #10 in the current coaches poll (and #21 in the LRC poll). The LRC fans are still disrespecting the Bears only putting them 6th in the Pac 10.
