OTC Elite To Send Symmonds, Leer and Simpson To Penn Relays

Eugene, Oregon – The Oregon Track Club Elite will be sending several athletes to the 116th edition of the prestigious Penn Relays.  The Relays are annually held on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field.  The event takes place Tuesday, April 20th through Saturday, April 24th.

2008 U.S. Olympian Nick Symmonds, along with 2010 Indoor World Championships qualifier Will Leer, will represent the United States in the U.S. vs. The World Men’s Distance Medley Relay which will be held on Saturday, April 24th at 3:00pm (EST).  Symmonds is tentatively slated to run the lead-off leg (1,200 meters) on one of the American teams, while Leer is tentatively slated to anchor one of the American teams, running the 1,600 meter leg.  Symmonds and Leer will be competing against teams from Australia, Canada, Kenya and Morocco.

2008 British Olympian, Jemma Simpson, will anchor the British team in the U.S. vs. The World Women’s Sprint Medley, which will be held on Saturday, April 24th at 1:50pm (EST).   Simpson will race the 800 meter leg against the two U.S. teams as well as teams from the Bahamas, Jamaica and Russia.
