Tyreek Hill Shocks Track World with 10.15 100m Comeback in California

After blazing a wind-legal 10.15, the NFL star held up a sign mocking Olympic champion Noah Lyles: “Noah could never.”

Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill proved his speed is still world-class on the track, running a stunning 10.15 seconds in the 100 meters at the Last Chance Sprint Series #2 in California. The performance was wind-legal, with a +1.2 m/s tailwind.

Hill, who earned a World U20 bronze medal in the 200 meters back in 2012 and ran 10.19 for 100m and 20.13 for 200m as a teenager, had barely raced on the track in over a decade. To return at age 31 and run a pb is a remarkable feat. To put it in perspective, the automatic qualifying time for USATF nationals is 10.05 with them filling the field to up to 32 runners with the minimum standard being 10.25. Hill is the 36th fastest American during the qualifying window right now.

Earlier this year, Hill and Olympic champion Noah Lyles publicly confirmed plans to race each other before the U.S. Championships. However, no official date or location has been announced, and there’s currently no word on whether the race will actually take place with Lyles dealing with an injury.

But Hill did have a message for Noah after the race holding up a sign saying “Noah could never”.
