Editor’s note: This article has been updated since publication.

One of the great questions surrounding the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha was what events would Sifan Hassan end up running. After running tonight’s 10,000, would she double back in the 5000  – which is very standard – or would she double back in the 1500 considering earlier this year she set a women’s world record in the mile?

Article continues below player.

It had been previously reported that Hassan would decided after tonight’s 10,000 but announcer Craig Masback just reported on the Olympic Channel broadcast that Hassan would be coming back in the 5,000. Masback didn’t report where he got that information but he is a Nike employee and Hassan is a Nike athlete coached by Alberto Salazar.

Craig Masback broke the news on a US broadcast.

While Masback did say that on the broadcast, Sifan Hassan in the mixed zone told Dutch journalists in Dutch that she prefers to run the 1,500 and her coach wants her to run the 5,000 but the decision has not been made yet.

Breaking: Sifan Hassan will do 10k/5k double in Doha, not 10k/1500.
