Parker Stinson Shatters American 25k Record, Emma Bates Wins at 2019 USATF 25k Champs

by LetsRun.com
May 11, 2019

This morning at the 2019 Amway River Bank Run in Grand Rapids Michigan, Parker Stinson and Emma Bates won the USATF 25k national titles. Stinson did it in style wining 1:13:48*, shattering Christo Landry‘s American record of 1:14:18 set at the same race in 2014.

25k (15.5343 miles) is a hard distance for many fans to put their minds around so maybe this will help. Stinson hit 10k in 29:20, split 62:03 for the half marathon and still had another 2.42 miles to go.

Article continues below player.

Bates got the win in 1:23:51, the fastest ever run by a American in a 25k race but much slower than what has been split in full marathons, after hitting the half marathon in 1:10:49.

*Note, the race website is listing Stinson’s time at 1:13:46 but it’s showing a clock time of 1:13:37.1 and the protocol is to use the gun time and then round up to the next second. Similarly, Bates time is listed at 1:23:50 but her clock time is 1:23:50.82.
