Marcus Wheeler, a state cross-country champion in Arizona this past fall, sadly committed suicide this morning at his Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona.

Marcus broadcast his intentions on twitter before taking his life. A campus police officer saw Marcus with his gun but was not able to stop him from taking action according to the Phoenix New Times.

Marcus’ twitter feed before his death was of some one crying out for help. Here are tweets he sent out or retweeted in the last day.

If you are depressed or even thinking about considering suicide, please don’t do it. Life is precious. Help is a phone call away: 1-800-273-8255 or via chat.

And remember the positive interaction we can have with strangers. Marcus did retweet this uplifting tweet from 400m hurdler Georganne Moline last week:

Our thought and prayers are with Marcus’s family and friends and anyone touched by suicide.
