I’ve been a Division 1 coach for about 4 years now and when I was trying to land somewheres and failing miserably I reached out to a lot of coaches to network and for advice and this guy was one of a few that gave his time to give a genuine response he could have blew me off( Dave Smith actually did that, understandably ). But I respect people that don’t have a dog in the fight but will try to guide you in the right direction. More power to him, good luck!

Based on how much Bobby's been bouncing around, he was probably just interested in getting to use you for his network.

Also, how about you produce some results and get a job based on merit? Did that thought ever cross your mind?

I don’t follow the x-c coaching scene like some of you ex-jocks. But “bouncing around”? He coached at Oklahoma State for 10 years! Then after a year at NC State, got a promotion to Cal.

Cal tends to hire high-character guys who stress academics. That’s why they fired Spike Dykes and refused to hire Eric Musselman. They even got rid of Tedford in part due to declining graduation rates. And a Cal athletic director was hired to clean up the Paterno / Sandusky mess at Penn State.
