RE: Noah Lyles Will Run in the Vicinity of 9.77 Tomorrow

I didn't think his start was that bad relative to the field, he just didn't look like he had his usual top gear. Running a big PB like he did last weak probably took a lot out of him. If he wasn't getting paid to race he probably should have taken at least 2 weeks away from racing to recover from that PB effort.

For Lyles, you are correct, he didn't have a "trash" start. Same with how he looked in the field. But, from a technical critique, his start has not improved at all. He doesn't have the worst form out of the blocks or anything, but it's like he has no power, and no concept on how to even APPLY power, out of the blocks and through 30 meters. If he ever figures that out, look out. But then again, maybe his 200 would suffer as a result? I dunno.

He did his standard "run down" stuff on Gatlin, too. It's wild to see how much damage he does to other runners in the last 20 meters of 100m dashes. But, if he never really gets his 0 to 30 meters primed, it may be moot (at least for a gold medal, anyway).
