Also, when companies are trying to game the label, they use LOTS of different kinds of virtuous-sounding sugar.
Like, people who buy granola like it to taste pretty sweet, but they FEEL better when the ingredients are like, “rolled oats, organic raisins, hand-harvested almonds, brown rice syrup, cinnamon”, and then after that, they can put, turbinado sugar, molasses, real wonderful honey, blah, blah.
They’re gaming the label because 10% each, of five different sugars, is 50% sugar. See what i mean?
