Lots of people on this thread who were clearly never good enough to go to the front of a rabbited race. Yes, of course any athlete has the power to take on the race. But in reality, most athletes are understandably hesitant to, particularly in the early stages of the race. If someone goes to the front of the pack and slows down, the race is likely to slow down, it's not rocket science and there's a reason why that trend is rarely broken by a selfless, sacrificial surge to the front.

Perhaps not shocking that reality isn't the concern of the armchair athletes on these boards.

I understand that people are hesitant to lead and that causes races to slow down. But one person can't make everyone slow down appreciably. That they are hesitant to go around Hiltz isn't Hiltz's fault.
