Other message boards I post on will lock a thread to replies instead of outright deleting it unless there is something incredibly inflammatory in the OP. That allows the moderator to leave a post saying "this thread has been locked because ________." The thread then dies, but there is an explanation for it being locked.

I like this, and I think that LR should lock threads instead of deleting them when possible.

I like this idea. But it doesnt address the issue of thousands of individual posts getting deleted just because a mod doesnt agree.
