All I would ask is to be a bit more transparent about why something has been deleted so we know what to avoid. As an example a certain wedding DJ seems to be something that will get a post deleted even if a legitimate reference is being made but I don't know what the official stance is - for example there are numerous articles on the main site about him still.
Other message boards I post on will lock a thread to replies instead of outright deleting it unless there is something incredibly inflammatory in the OP. That allows the moderator to leave a post saying "this thread has been locked because ________." The thread then dies, but there is an explanation for it being locked.
I like this, and I think that LR should lock threads instead of deleting them when possible.
