Likewise as an RD my one of my main jobs was to get good runners. Every pack needs a leader! Sadly the management of races is not so personal anymore.
The RD of a big city race i mentioned would absolutely know if a potential 50+, 60+ , 70+ record breaker is in the race and would lay out the red carpet to enable a record, even a national one, because fast times are the thing that gains traction for the event
It has been said, FM was a VERY late entry. Does LAM have race-day entry? An entry-desk vollie most likely would not know his history.
