RE: Frank Meza 2:53:10 at LA Marathon (70 years old) unoffical time (just finished)
His 1500 time from his 30's, when he seems to have been a dedicated runner, age-grades around 75%. At 70, that's around a 3:45 marathon, more or less. So the sad thing is he probably has the talent to have gotten the age group win in some of those races, or at least a top 3 age group finish. The pictures where he bares his midriff suggest he's not actually carrying a ton of extra weight. With some time to run and luck with avoiding injuries, he could be a solid age group runner. That's enough for most of us.

If I ever run a California marathon, it will be CIM. It will not be LAM. I care about my age-group running, and I want more than 2 other people to care, so DQ the course-cutter, dammit.
