RE: Frank Meza 2:53:10 at LA Marathon (70 years old) unoffical time (just finished)
It's quite possible that while Frank may have been running his whole life, he might not have done any 5x18 workouts until he read about them here in 2015.
Super workouts like 5x18 can lead to rapid improvement in the thon at any age.

Frank's go-to workout for the past 10 years has been the Marathon Simulator: 8x50m with 3 minute stretch recovery.
Also bike intervals: 5x5km at marathon pace.
