18:15.53 is the 5000m world record for M70. An 18:34 split during a marathon does seem awful fast.
I guess it hasn't occurred to any of you numbnuts that his timing chip was malfunctioning on those sections?
Sure. I guess that's possible. I don't know how a timing chip would malfunction, other than to not give splits at all. But maybe Frank Meza's timing chip randomly adds and subtracts time from his splits. Every time he races. Meanwhile, his competitors' chips behave normally.
