We have rules in sport to make sure the competition is fair and make sure that at the end of the competition thewinners have won because they are better than their competitors, and not because they cheated.
The point of rules isn't to have rules for rules sake, it's to insure that the competition is fair.
Agreed. But what about uniform rules? I see more high school DQs resulting from someone wearing the wrong color shirt under their uniform, a small stripe on a pair of tights, a slightly too large clothing manufacturer logo, etc. than I do from anything else, including false starts. A large Nike swoosh on a pair of tights does not give any competition advantage. Unfortunately in T&F, we have too many rules that do NOT create fair competition, and are in fact "rules for rules sake."
