Maybe this is just a one off issue, but if it isn’t....I always thought a guy like him would need the social energy and structure of school. Maybe next year he should hop into a grad program a la hehir. Also Charlottesville, and I never really thought it would be his cup of tea. Gotta be depressing just being in one of those anonymous cville apartments w wall to wall carpet. Also cville is kind of red state America/the south in a way Syracuse isn’t, and maybe it doesn’t suit a kid from Toronto. It just kinda has an exploitative vibe you don’t get in the northeast or Canada. I know people love cville, but just my twonie.
And, Charlottesville is one of the liberal parts of Virginia! Yee haw!
Just a quick drive over to, say, Lynchburg, Virginia & it´s a totally different world! Lynchburg is the home of the Flagger Movement (those who want to keep the Confederate Flag flying). Yikes! Oh, you also have conservative Liberty University there too. (Despite what you might think, Lynchburg´s name has nothing to do with race & lynching though. I looked that up, just to make sure.)
But, I moved to Virginia about 20 years ago & am never surprised at some of the antics of this state. Thank goodness for Northern Virginia (NOVA) for helping modernize Virginia´s thinking...slow progress, but it´s happening.
