RE: Is bringing down a 22:30 minute 5k down to 19:5X in 5 months possible?
I did basically that this year. I went from 22:29 (April 7) to 19:57 (August 18) in 4 months 11 days this year. I'm male, 40, and this is my first year running. I was training for my first marathon (June 3) since Feb and after the marathon I had a push to get under 20 mins. Training was mostly 40 miles/week with a few up at 60 m/w.
This has been novice gains mostly from losing weight and putting in some work. Best of luck.
