It is good for the sport to at least mention the celebrities that are running. If they can get some screen time that is good too but not for too long. It does help to promote the sport. Yes, they should focus on the elite competition that is occurring. They can't just show the elites running the whole time. Running is kind of boring so they need these other "human interest stories" to keep the masses entertained. After all, without the mass viewership there would be no marathons televised.
True^. But what year is this? Can't there be an inset with the actual race while the celeb is being touted? How much more could it cost for a little split screen action? Especially split screen with the women's and men's races showing at the same time.
