I'm not an ultra runner but I would have thought after the coastal mountains and the Rockies it would be nice to have some flat roads for a while. Although mentally I think Ontario might potentially be the biggest challenge simply because it takes so damn long. I took a 72-hour bus ride, Ottawa to Vancouver, years ago. The first 24 hours were all in Ontario. In my mind the Maritimes would be the best running--still relatively flat but more interesting scenery and you can smell the ocean, telling you that you're almost done!
