After reading up on Al Howie, now I'm skeptical it can be done. 10:50/mile? Howie ran a 2:28 marathon once. He surely made better than 10:50/mile pace. I wish him the best, but I think you need a better running background to beat the current record.
That's what I am saying from the start. Just because you had one good 24 hour race, does not mean anything if you do a multi day race of this magnitude. This is a very long haul, much longer than the Trans US crossings.
