RE: Road Racing and Training Thread. Week Ending May 13 2018
Allen - Thank you for the feedback. In regard to your "selfish" comment, there is a 5k--right here in town--this Saturday. I have run it before, and it is very hilly...a tough race. Came in fourth in it last year. It is a tiny race. Once, there were only 39 runners. This year, I think there are only 8 or 10 signed up right now, at least for on-line registrants. It is tough here, as there are very few "PR" courses. The July 4th race is also hilly, and then there is the issue of July weather.

I really want to bang out the miles, though, this week, and build toward 70+. Last year, I hit a peak of 78 in late spring (in June, I believe). The weather was better last year, though. For some reason, though, I have a yen to head to the track and bang out some reps, perhaps something like a 6x800. Perhaps I am getting tired of the hills and want something flat. Or perhaps I just want to get it over with today, as it will be hot and humid when I run later this afternoon. When it is steamy, I like to go short and fast--and get it done.

All the best, my friend.
