RE: 2017 College Track & Field Open Coaching Positions Discussion
Your sources might be embarrassed to tell you the truth. As someone who's been coaching in ACC for many years I can tell you exactly who makes how much, and those are the exact figures, maybe few Ks on bonuses which are the same for all, so he'd still be payed the least. No one ever made 90k at UVA except the top guy, especially not the throws coach. There's a reason why good throws coaches like Lane who left that place not that long ago, and Maric will too. They're putting all the money in distance, as you can see from the figures above. It's surprising not to see Maric bumped up to associate head like it's been done before by Georgia and VT for instance, since all the points come from throws. Or maybe he doesn't mind being the waterboy.
If I was a parent of a kid looking into UVA, I'd look somewhere else in ACC. FSU, Miami or even VT, even though they might have made a mistake by letting Jack go. Send your kids to a school where you feel confident the coach will stay for more than a year or two.
Maryland's coach was a great guy. Had pleasure knowing him for more than a decade. NCAA needs more guys like that.
