He most definitely should have medalled. He was the 2nd best guy in the race.
I don't think I've ever seen a distance race in my entire life where a distance runner has stayed boxed for the final 100.
I am glad it opened up for him. I'd hate to have him lose and then peopel say he only lost because he got boxed.
BUt it is a reminder for all young distance runners. DON"T EVER LEAVE LANE 1 if you are leading. NEVER.
True. At about 110m off the final corner I used to go just wide enough in lane one to make people have to go around but still making it impossible to pass inside. Don't hug the rail if you sense someone right on your ass. If they're already on your shoulder don't go wide because it's impeding.
