RE: USATF Announces 2020 Olympic Trials Marathon qualifying standards
I know Boston was allowed in all the previous trials. Boston times can not be considered for world records, etc, but USATF allowed times be allowed for qualification purposes because "the course was considered a long time traditional course" even though it is point to point and has an elevation drop over the allowable. I don't know (but wouldn't think so) if IAAF would allow times at Boston to be Olympic Games eligible. For this trials cycle this should be cleared up by USATF. I remember there were a number of folks who thought they had qualifying times for 2016 only to find out particular races were either not USATF sanctioned nor was on a course certified. That being said before signing up for a potential qualifying race my advice would be to check with the race director or check the list of certified course,
