What could I hit in the mile this season?
I've gone through three meets so far, and have run 4:52.8, 4:52.2, and today I ran a pr of 4:46.1. (Previous PR was 4:50 set in indoor track). Despite my pr, I was frustrated about what I saw as pretty terrible pacing.
My splits were: 70, 77, 75, and 64.
My main issue, in my opinion, is a lack of ability to run my own race. I came in 2nd to a 4:20 miler, and kind of just stuck with the field then dropped them all in the last lap. My coach was saying he now wants me to break 4:40 at state, which I qualified for because I'm in a relatively weak state (I have 5 more races before this), and I was wondering if that goal was possible. Thank you for any advice.
