Iam under the impression that IF, kenya were to become more organized in their athletics program.
they will be unstopable.
i dont even think ethiopia will be able to challenge them.
But that is a huge IF, as it is right now, they seem a long way from organized.
How so? Kenya for many years was at the forefront. Organized camps, insistence on having top athletes leave their coaches in the pivotal few weeks right before major championships, etc.
The Ethiopians who make it to the top are better than the Kenyans. Gebrselassie, Bekele, Abera, Bayissa, Bikila (Abebe and Worku), Wolde (Mamo and Million), Mezgebu, Dinkessa, Gebremariam, Tola, Jifar, Dibaba (Tirunesh and Ejegayehu), Wami, Adere, Tulu, Sihine....you get the point.
Perhaps the altitude is a little better, or the training more systematic, or the national and cultural motivations stronger, but you must admit this is a new era over the past few years.
