OOPS, I need to finish my thought (sans caps). Since we are still a couple minutes from 2, Nike can't will it to just happen. We need to get a bit closer to 2 before we shoot for the moon. Since we are still considerably far away from 2, we can't just throw on a pair of shoes and run under 2 on a sanctioned course. Human development just isn't there yet.

I hope you're not really a coach. Humans vary from people who can't run to people who can cover a marathon in 2:03.

A sub two person is alive right now.[/quote]

It may happen before you die.

This person will need to be very fast at 1/4 to 1/2 of the marathon distance (10K and half-marathon).

TrackBot! VDOT 26:17 10K
TrackBot! VDOT 2:00:00 Marathon

Oh boy.
This person will need to be even faster than Kenenisa Bekele?!!??!!!WTF???!!!

However, Bekele has run a 2:03:03 marathon in Berlin at only 85% of his full capacity.

(By the way, Renato is in agreement with me on this point...and the need for 26:00 10K speed in his latest interview. That is an interesting coincidence.)

(Unfortunately Trackbot, the Daniels VDOT table may be too optimistic on equivalent marathon times by around 1 minute for elite runners.)

Thanks for your help Mr. Trackbot.
