"Far below average runner at age 23" lol
When Farah was 23, he ran in the Commonwealth games 5000m final and finished 9th in 13:40. That was a whopping 44 seconds behind Choge and 42 seconds behind Mottram. And it was also 14 seconds behind the 8th placed finisher, a Tanzanian by the name of Dickson Mkami
At the 2007 worlds he finished 7th
At the 2008 Olympics, he failed to make the final after finishing 6th in his heat with a time of 13:50
At the 2009 worlds he was 6th
His big breakthrough came in 2011 when he was 28. He started to work under Salazar, found a magic elixir and suddenly at age 28 he had become invincible.
